ICLEI’s response to the Call for Evidence: Affordable Housing Plan, While ICLEI Europe welcomes the European Commission’s affordable housing plan initiative and acknowledgement that addressing housing needs cannot come at the expense of environmental and social goals, ICLEI is urging to consider that around 90% of today’s buildings will still exist in 2050 and that European policies and investments in this field should hence focus on high-quality, sustainable, and energy-efficient housing that is affordable and supports inclusive, healthy communities.
