SUMMARY:Community Storytellers Lab: Hands on the stories
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nOctober 23\n\n\n\n\n\n\n10:00 am – 11:30 am CEST\n\n\n\n\n\nCommunity-led housing offers an alternative to conventional housing models, putting people and communities at the centre of creating and managing affordable, inclusive and sustainable places to live. But how can we tell the stories behind these initiatives in ways that influence housing policies and inspire change across Europe?\nBuilding on the techniques introduced in the previous Storytelling session, this practical workshop will explore how to identify powerful stories from your community-led housing initiative, organisation, members or partners. Participants will learn how to conduct interviews, ask meaningful questions ethically, and capture stories that resonate with their audiences.\nThe session will also introduce practical tips for producing audiovisual content ready to share on social media, helping participants turn the experiences and voices of their communities into compelling stories that can support advocacy for more affordable, inclusive and sustainable housing policies.\nAbout the trainer\nSolenn Honorine is a communications consultant and trainer with two decades of experience in international journalism and strategic communication. Her work has appeared in French and American media outlets, including RFI, Newsweek, Le Figaro, France 24 and Voice of America.\nSince 2014, she has advised international organisations working in aid and development, climate and global health on strategic and crisis communication. She spent six years working directly with field operations for Médecins Sans Frontières, including in conflict zones and acute crises. She later served as Europe Director for Strategic Communications at the European Climate Foundation, leading a team across 11 European countries focused on shaping narratives in support of climate action.\nSolenn is also the author of six television documentaries and two non-fiction books published in French, Indonésie – histoire, société, culture and Mandela à 20 ans. Her first novel, La Route de Wakale, was published in 2025.\nMore information\nThe CHOICE Storytelling Lab is part of the CHOICE project, coordinated by GEN EU and a consortium of European organisations working to strengthen community-led housing through knowledge exchange, collaboration and advocacy. The Lab brings together people involved in community-led housing and related movements from across Europe to learn how to document and share the stories behind their initiatives. Through interactive sessions, practical assignments, peer learning and mentoring, participants will develop their own documented housing story.\n\n\n
